BE Write for iPad Thu, February 16, 2012

During my recent search for a suitable blogging app on my iPad, I came across BE Write. I have to tell you, so far, I am extremely impressed with this little bit of software. Okay, so I have a WordPress Blog and they do have their own app for the iPad and iPhone, but it lacks all of the bells and whistles that BE Write does.

Where else can I add:

Customize the FONTS , etc., etc. You see that nice “handwritten note” above? That torn piece of notebook paper is courtesy of, you guessed it, BE Write. It’s pretty awesome. I can also insert photos from my camera roll or photo library with the tap of a few buttons, like so:

And add a frame, as I did above. Now isn’t that the perfect picture of the rock garden at the Hsi Lai Buddhist Temple in Hacienda Heights,  CA? What a wonderful way to share the photos of the field trip I took with my DD and her school earlier this month.

You can also add tables, hyperlinks, upload and export to Blogger, WordPress, Google Docs, Dropbox, Email, or you could simply create a photo and export it to your Photo Album. You can create your own Templates for future use, or insert a template (not sure about this function yet, I’m still learning). It’s pretty darn awesome and definitely worth every penny of the $4.99 it cost me on the App Store. Go check it out!

Chewy Soft Pretzels Recipe

Photo by: Taste of Home

These homemade pretzels never last long around our house. My kids love to make them…and eat them! I serve them to company with a variety of dips, such as pizza sauce, ranch dressing, spinach dip or hot mustard.—Elvira Martens, Aldergrove, British Columbia

Chewy Soft Pretzels Recipe

12 Servings Prep: 1 hour + rising Bake: 15 min.

Ingredients

1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast

1-1/2 cups warm water (110° to 115°)

1 tablespoon sugar

2 teaspoons salt

4 to 4-1/4 cups all-purpose flour

8 cups water

1/2 cup baking soda

1 egg, lightly beaten

Kosher salt, sesame seeds, poppy seeds or grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the sugar, salt and 2 cups flour; beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a stiff dough.

Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.

Punch dough down; divide into 12 portions. Roll each into an 18-in. rope; twist into a pretzel shape.

In a large saucepan, bring water and baking soda to a boil. Place pretzels into boiling water, one at a time, for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon; drain on paper towels.

Place on greased baking sheets. Brush with egg; sprinkle with desired topping.

Bake at 425° for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks. Serve warm. Yield: 1 dozen.

Red Velvet White Chocolate Chunk Cookies:

1 box – red velvet cake mix

1 cup – all purpose flour

2 sticks – butter {softened}

1 egg

2 cups – white chocolate chunks {chips}

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a mixing bowl, add the butter and mix until soft and fluffy. {hand mixer works best for this}

Then slowly add the cake mix and flour.

Once that is combined, add the egg and mix completely.

Add white chocolate chips, mix it for a minute or so until it is all well combined.

Form dough into one inch balls, {I used an ice cream scoop and it worked great} place them into the oven for 8-10 minutes on an un-greased cookie sheet.

{Makes about 24 small cookies}

If you dare make these you will love every.single.bite.

They are absolutely delicious!
